Cancelling products and domains, withdrawing a cancellation, and what happens afterwards

In this article you'll read how to cancel a hosting package or domain name, how to withdraw a cancellation, and what happens with outstanding invoices. Web hosting and domain registration are separate products: if you only cancel your package, your domain remains registered as usual, and vice versa.

Cancelling a hosting package

  1. Log in to My WebOké.
  2. Go to My Products and click Manage next to the package.
  3. Click Cancel product at the bottom of the product page.
  4. Choose when you want to cancel:
    • As of the expiry date: the package keeps working as usual until that date and then stops automatically. You won't receive a renewal invoice anymore. This is the normal choice.
    • Cancel and delete immediately: we'll delete the package right away, along with all files, email and databases. You won't get the remainder of your term back.
  5. Choose a reason or type one in your own words. A reason is required.
  6. Click the red button, for example Cancel as of with the date.
The Cancel product window with the choices, the reasons, and the Cancel button
The Cancel product window
Domain names included in the package are not automatically cancelled along with it. The window shows which domains are involved. Cancel them separately or transfer them to another provider, see How do I request the transfer code/EPP token?.
Deleting immediately cannot be undone. Make sure to back up your website, email, and databases first if you still need them.

Cancelling a domain name

  1. Go to My Domains and click on the domain name.
  2. Click Cancel domain in the Advanced card. You can also turn off the Renews annually toggle: this opens the same window.
  3. Choose Cancel (the domain remains active until the end date) or Cancel and delete immediately.
  4. Click the red button to cancel.

If the domain is part of a hosting package, that package won't be cancelled along with it. The window gives you a link to cancel the package separately.

Note: after a domain expires or is deleted, someone else may register it. A deleted .nl domain first goes into a 40-day quarantine period. During this time, only you can have it retrieved.

Checking or withdrawing your cancellation

  • Package: on the product page you'll see that the package has been cancelled. As long as it's still active, you'll see the Undo cancellation button there. Click it and the package will simply continue.
  • Domain: on the domain page you'll see Will not be renewed. with the date the domain expires. If you change your mind, click Undo cancellation in the Advanced card or turn the Renews annually toggle back on.

After cancelling a domain, a button also appears to delete it immediately. Only use this if you're certain you'll never need the domain again.

Still receiving an invoice after cancelling or transferring?

We generate the renewal invoice well in advance, about 35 days before the expiry date. If you cancel after that, the invoice will already be outstanding. Here's how to resolve this:

  • If a renewal invoice is already outstanding, you can choose in the cancellation window between cancelling as of the previous expiry date or as of the new expiry date. If you choose the previous expiry date, we'll credit the outstanding invoice and you won't need to pay it. If you choose the new one, you'll pay the invoice and still use that term.
  • If the new term has already started, the window will tell you from which date cancellation is possible. The product remains active until that date.
  • Have you transferred your domain to another provider? After a successful transfer, billing with us stops automatically. If you still received a renewal invoice for that domain, send us a ticket with the domain name and invoice number.

Cooling-off period and refunds

  • If you order as a consumer, you have a 14-day cooling-off period. Within this time, you can withdraw from the agreement without giving a reason. You can find out how this works and the model withdrawal form on the Right of withdrawal page.
  • We register or transfer a domain name immediately after your order. That's why the right of withdrawal doesn't apply to domains. You confirm this with a checkbox when ordering.
  • The right of withdrawal doesn't apply if you order as a business.
  • In addition, WebOké offers a 30-day money-back guarantee for hosting packages, email packages, Nextcloud, reseller packages, AI Builder, extra options, and renewals. This also doesn't apply to domains. The guarantee applies to both business and private customers. Cancelling alone isn't enough: request your money back via a ticket.

Want to withdraw or request a refund? Send us a ticket or email support@weboke.eu. In case of withdrawal, we'll refund you within 14 days, using the same payment method you used to pay.

Cancelling on behalf of a deceased person or dissolved organisation

If the customer has passed away or the organisation has been dissolved, you can have the services cancelled on their behalf. Here's how it works:

  1. First, back up anything you still need. Think of email, files, and the domain name. If you want to keep the website or the domain, have the package or domain transferred to another WebOké account instead of cancelling it. See Transferring and merging accounts.
  2. Cancel using the form Cancel contract. You don't need to log in for this.
  3. Add supporting documents showing that you're authorised to do this on behalf of the customer, such as a death certificate or an extract from the Chamber of Commerce, and a copy of your ID. On a copy of an ID, make the citizen service number (BSN) and photo unreadable.

Not sure what to do? Feel free to contact us. We're happy to think along with you.
