Chapter 16 · 16.18
Moving your Nextcloud to your own domain: what do you need to update in apps afterwards?
Your WebOké Nextcloud has been given a new address, for example cloud.yourcompany.com instead of yourname.webokecloud.nl (see Your Nextcloud on your own domain (cloud.yourcompany.com)). The good news: the old address keeps working and redirects to the new one. So nothing stops working straight away. Still, it's a good idea to switch everywhere to the new address when you have a quiet moment. Then everything works directly, and you're not dependent on the redirect.
What stays the same?
- Your username, your password and your files.
- Your app passwords. You don't need to create new ones; you can keep using an app's existing app password.
- Your authenticator app. It may still show the old address as the name, but the codes remain valid.
- Public links you've already shared. Anyone who opens an old link will automatically land on the new address.

Tell your users
Do you have a Family or Max package? Send your family members or colleagues a short message with the new address and this checklist. Everyone carries out the steps themselves on their own devices. Nothing is lost if someone does it later, because the old address keeps working.
The new address isn't working yet
Do you get a warning about the connection on the new address, or does nothing open? Then the new address probably isn't pointing correctly to our server yet. Read Certificate warning or insecure connection. Until then, just keep working with the old address.
Tip: start with one device, for example your own laptop. If that works well, update the rest.
